Vader is regarded as a pro wrestling veteran with years and years of experience in the ring. Many fans have cited his versatile wrestling style as making him one of the best “big men” in the industry. Unfortunately, it appears that the former WCW and WWE superstar has decided to call it quits in the ring for good at last. Vader has wrestled all over the world since the mid-80s, and is a three-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion. Vader announced his retirement on Twitter on June 4th, 2017, though it is possible that perhaps he could step into the ring again depending on if he is feels that he is able to do so.
At 62-years-old, Vader announced his departure from the business by stating:
“With Great Sorrow I leave my first born my greatest love of All for a chance to exist inthe same plain of existance of my Gr Ch yet to exist”
Vader has been dealt with a series of unfortunate events over the past year. He was diagnosed with congestive heart failure back in November of 2016, and he reported that doctors told him that he had only two years left to live. During a match in Japan back in April, Vader collapsed suddenly and was unable to compete. He blamed this on a concussion that he received during the match and not due to his heart condition.
The decision to retire from the business was inevitable given Vader’s declining health. His last match, wherein he passed out, was a six-man tag team match with Keiji Muto and AKIRA against Fujinami, Riki Choshu, and Shiro Koshinaka at Korakuen Hall in Japan. Vader is saddened to leave the wrestling business, but is doing so with the hopes that he will be able to see his grandchildren someday. Vader will definitely go down as a legend in the sport of pro wrestling, and many fans have been clamoring for Vader to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame soon.
