Speaking in an interview with L’Équipe, Arsenal right-back Mathieu Debuchy revealed the rather difficult nature of his current relationship with Arsène Wenger.
“Before my loan to Bordeaux, I was often in his office. But now, I have not felt the need to, I do not want to… We greet each other, we say hello, nothing more.”
On his time at Arsenal:
It is complicated, that is true. I do not want to go through the whole story but, just after my arrival, I had two operations in the same year. When I came back, I played very rarely, and when I did play, certainly, physically, I was not at my best. In my head too, it was tough… I have had very hard moments. Now, I am trying to focus, to channel all that into working. I am showing nothing, I am hooked (on working). I have always been able to function like that.
