Video: Dana White On CM Punk's UFC Future: "I've Got To Talk To Him"

UFC President Dana White gave TMZ a quick CM Punk update during a brief interview conducted prior to this week’s UFC 205 pre-fight press conference in New York City.

As White explained, he still has to talk to the former WWE Superstar, but in their brief exchange the night of his loss to Mickey Gall at UFC 203, White said he made it clear to Punk that he should go be with his wife and live like a normal person for a while after the two years he spent devoting his lifestyle to preparing for his MMA debut.

“I’ve got to talk to him,” the UFC president said. “He called me the night of the fight. We talked. He was on his way home.” What did they talk about? “I told him to go spend some time with his wife and live like a normal person for a while, and then we’ll get on the phone and talk about what’s next.”

White seemed to make it clear while talking to the media after the fight between Punk and Gall at the PPV show in Cleveland, Ohio, that if Punk were to continue in MMA and have another fight as he spoke about right after his loss, that it shouldn’t be at the high level that is required on any level in the UFC.

Whether or not White changed his stance after seeing the pay-per-view numbers for UFC 203: Miocic vs. Overeem, rumored to be between 425,000 and 475,000, with a large percentage being credited to Punk’s drawing power.
