Augustana wrestling drops six spots in national poll

EDMOND, Okla. – Augustana dropped six spots and is now ranked 19th in the NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches’ Association poll released on Wednesday. Augustana is one of four NSIC schools that earned a spot in this week’s edition of the poll while St. Cloud State took over the No. 1 ranking in the country.

Augustana had two individuals ranked in the top eight of their respective weight classes. Nate Herda remains fifth at 149 pounds while Jayd Docken dropped one spot and is now ranked sixth at 197 pounds.

Herda currently owns a record of 16-4 on the season. The senior went 2-1 at the NWCA National Duals last weekend and lost his first match of the season to a non-Division I opponent.

Docken is 10-4 on the season after going 0-1 at the NWCA National Duals last Saturday.

Augustana returns to Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action on Friday night at Southwest Minnesota State University beginning at 7 p.m. The Vikings will then hold its first home dual of the season on Sunday against NCAA Division III opponent Augsburg College.
