Bill Gates Endorses Aadhaar Scheme, Says It Does Not Pose Any Threat To Privacy

It’s not just Facebook or Twitter, but also India’s UIDAI system- the Aadhaar card that has come under scanner for its suspected privacy breach. More than a billion people in India have enrolled for Aadhaar, making it the world’s largest biometric ID system.

Weighing on the Aadhar card system of India, Microsoft founder Bill Gates has said “Yes, the benefits of that (Aadhaar) are very high.”. In fact, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has funded the World Bank to take Aadhaar to other countries as it is “worth emulating”.

The 62-year-old multi-billionaire entrepreneur and philanthropist confirmed that Infosys co-founder, Nandan Nilekani, who is considered as the chief architect of the UIDAI Aadhaar, has been helping the World Bank on taking the project to other countries.
