During today’s WWE UK Championship Tournament taping event at Royal Albert Hall in England, the division’s newly appointed General Manager Johnny Saint made a bombshell announcement – NXT UK is coming, and it’s set to debut THIS SUMMER!
What we know so far is that WWE will be holding eight live events this year that will be taped for a brand new series called NXT UK, which we presume will be added to the WWE Network on a weekly basis, although that has yet to be confirmed.
What HAS been confirmed are the brand new NXT UK Tag Team Championships and the NXT UK Women’s Championship, with the new champions crowned at the upcoming TV tapings. The legendary Johnny Saint will preside over the division, much like William Regal does for the NXT U.S. brand.
Taping Dates:
July 28-29 in CambridgeAugust 25-26 in BirminghamOctober 13-14 in PlymouthNovember 24-25 in Liverpool
What we still don’t know is when the show itself will begin airing. If they stick to a traditional schedule of releasing new episodes the week after a TV taping, our educated guess would be early August, but they could also sit on the taped episodes for as long as they want/need.
We also don’t know what day of the week and what time it will air, if it does indeed come to the WWE Network, and at this there is no additional information available about future plans for NXT UK Takeover specials, but we’ll keep you posted.
