WWE announced on Tuesday evening that Dolph Ziggler vs. The Miz is official for this year’s SummerSlam pay-per-view, taking place next Sunday, August 11th in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, that match is NOT taking place at the upcoming SummerSlam event, and that the announcement of it as happening on Smackdown was a “red herring” to set up a totally different match for next weekend’s show.
Ziggler has mentioned and trashed Bill Goldberg for the last 3-4 weeks in almost every promo he’s had on both Raw and Smackdown, as well as over social media. He also leveled Shawn Michaels with a superkick just last week.
For what it’s worth, Meltzer has also previously reported that Ziggler vs. Michaels was not happening, and that the mentioning of Goldberg is not to set up a match, as there is reportedly legitimate bad blood after his performance in Saudi Arabia last November.
