3 Big Title Matches Announced for Next Week’s WWE NXT

Next Wednesday night may end up being a pivotal moment in wrestling history, as all two hours of WWE NXT will broadcast live on the USA Network for the very first time, running head-to-head with the series premiere of AEW Dynamite on TNT.

The start of the so-called “Wednesday Night Wars” will begin with a bang from the All Elite Wrestling side, as the fledgling promotion will present the crowning of the first ever AEW World Women’s Champion, a six-man tag team match featuring Kenny Omega, the Young Bucks, Chris Jericho and two mystery opponents, Cody Rhodes in action, and the highly anticipated Kenny Omega vs. PAC match.

But WWE’s black-and-yellow brand will be putting up one hell of a fight itself, as we can now confirm there will be THREE championship matches next Wednesday evening! Let’s break down the card…

The first of three title matches scheduled for next week’s show will see another entry in the series between The Undisputed Era and the Street Profits, with the NXT Tag Team Championships on the line.

If you feel like we’ve been seeing a lot of this pairing lately, you’re right. In the last month (and some change) alone we have seen the Street Profits retain the titles at NXT Takeover: Toronto, then lose the belts to O’Reilly and Fish on television just a few weeks later. Their performances have all delivered, however, so we’ll see what these two duos can put together as they run it back again.

Just announced, Adam Cole will put the NXT Championship on the line next Wednesday night against the “Original Bro” Matt Riddle. The former UFC fighter finally managed to put down the massive Killian Dain in round two of a chaotic Street Fight to earn what will be his first one-on-one opportunity at the black-and-gold brand’s top prize.

Finally, the “Queen of Spades” Shayna Baszler will defend her title for the second time this month. After barely surviving Rhea Ripley after direct interference from the Horsewomen, she will attempt to get past Candice LeRae in a battle for the NXT Women’s Championship. It will be a battle of the two premier women’s divisions, as this bout may end up going head-to-head with All Elite Wrestling crowning their first ever Women’s World Champion on the inaugural episode of AEW Dynamite.
