Everything is in place for Gonzalo Higuain to join Chelsea.
Milan have snapped up Krzysztof Piatek to replace him and it is understood the Argentine is on his way to London from Milan.
However, the Blues may not get the loan deal for Higuain completed in time for him to play against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg.
He would have to be a registered Chelsea player by midday on Wednesday in order to be eligible for the game, which the club trail 1-0.

Winning the Carabao Cup is not Maurizio Sarri’s priority, though, and Higuain is there to ensure Chelsea are a Champions League club next season.
The club are currently fourth, three points clear of Arsenal and Manchester United and it is hoped his goals will allow Eden Hazard to flourish in his natural role on the left.
At Real Madrid Higuain scored 107 league goals in 190 games, 71 goals in 104 Serie A matches for Napoli and then 40 in 73 Juventus games, with six this season for Milan.
However, former England and Everton manager Sam Allardyce thinks it’s a risk considering his age.
“He’s 31 years old,” he told talkSPORT.
“Chelsea have done it before with Hernan Crespo, they brought him in for big, big money and it didn’t work – this could be the same again.
“He’s 31 years old coming into the Premier League and, with the pace of the league, he wont know what’s hit him.”
