Leeds United transfer news: Championship leaders tracking Kilmarnock striker Eamonn Brophy

Leeds United are keeping tabs on Kilmarnock striker Eamonn Brophy, according to reports.

Brophy, 22, has netted eight times in the Premiership this season to fire Killie into a title race with Old Firm rivals Celtic and Rangers.

The Rugby Park club are just one place and one point behind the pair, who are tied at the top of the table on 42 points.

Brophy, a former Celtic trainee, has caught the eye with his impressive displays throughout the season, and Leeds have started tracking the Scotland Under-21 international, according to the Daily Mail.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side, who currently sit top of the Championship table, are sounding out potential attacking options who are within their budget, with three weeks to go until the January transfer window shuts.

While scoring goals has not been a problem for the Whites this season, only one striker has hit double figures – Kemar Roofe – with the majority of their strikes coming from midfield instead.

Patrick Bamford, who was signed throughout the summer to lead the line this season, has played just six times since his arrival at Elland Road due to a ligament injury suffered in September, and then a knee injury which currently keeps him out of action.

Brophy, who can play as a centre-forward or out wide, is considered a candidate to solve Leeds‘ attacking problems given his goal scoring record for Killie.

After leaving Celtic’s academy in 2011, Brophy played for Hibernian before joining Hamilton in 2012 and making his senior debut a year later.

He joined Kilmarnock in 2017 after making 75 appearances for Accies across five seasons.
