Manchester United forward Anthony Martial ‘close’ to signing new five-year deal at Old Trafford

Anthony Martial is ‘close’ to signing a new deal at Manchester United, according to reports.

The 23-year-old rejected an offer in October, but looks set to commit his future to the Red Devils with a five-year deal.

Martial has enjoyed an excellent season, scoring nine goals to make him the club’s joint-top scorer.

Despite off-field issues dominating the headlines, the France international has handled the pressure and responsibility well.

And, according to Sky Sports, he will be rewarded with a new contract for his efforts.

United activated a year-long extension in Martial’s current contract to keep him at Old Trafford until 2020.

And his excellent form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has convinced the club’s hierarchy to sign him up.

In 2015, Martial became the most expensive teenager in history when he signed from Monaco in a deal worth up to £58million.
