LOUISVILLE, Ky. —Coming off the heels of another successful NFCA National Convention, the Association hit a major milestone at its Chicago I Coaches Clinic. An all-time record 524 attendees descended on the Crowne Plaza at Chicago O’Hare for the first of eight 2019-20 clinics. It eclipsed the previous mark of 486, set in 2019 in Kansas City.
Attendees were treated to an all-star cast of coaches and received a snippet of the engaging, creative instruction showcased on a larger scale at each year’s Convention. Over two days, Notre Dame’s Deanna Gumpf, Michigan’s Carol Hutchins, UCLA’s Kelly Inouye-Perez, Kentucky’s Rachel Lawson and LSU’s Beth Torina shared their vast knowledge in an “up close and personal” environment on various subjects, ranging from pitching and offense, to baserunning, team culture, practice planning and recruiting.
“Smiles everywhere!” said NFCA Executive Director Carol Bruggeman. “That’s what I saw all weekend long. The NFCA takes great pride in hosting our Coaches Clinics, which provide educational platforms to connect coaches of all levels. To hear we set a record for attendance is a tribute to our all-star speaking lineup and our passionate attendees.”
Including the Chicagoland area, coaches traveled from all over the United States, spanning 30 states – Massachusetts to California – and Canada, to learn from some of the best minds in softball.
Additionally, attendees took part in a coaches panel and were treated to a coaches social hour hosted by Legacy Event Management that allowed those present to mingle with the distinguished speakers. They also had an opportunity to visit with the many exhibitors on hand: 3N2 Sports, Blast Motion, Bownet Sports, Diamond Kinetics, Dynamic Team Sports, Easton Diamond Sports, FieldTurf, Ground Force Sports, Jugs Sports, Legacy Event Management, Mizuno USA, RISE Softball and SuperSpeed Slugger.
The NFCA raffled off over 40 items over the two-day event, but on the final day, several lucky coaches took home FREE equipment, including a Bownet Bodyguard Net, ProMag Tee, Bownet Big Mouth X Net, Blast Motion Sensor and a Pocket Radar Smart Coach.
There are still plenty of chances to learn and take advantage of this educational opportunity with seven more clinics – Chicago II, Louisville, Nashville, Portland, Charlotte, Kansas City and Minneapolis – in January. Clinics are open to everyone and those who sign up early will receive discounted pricing. For more information, please visit NFCAEvents.org or call our office at 502-409-4600.
