West Ham remain keen to keep Javier Hernandez at the club despite reported interest from Valencia.
The Mexico striker has not been a consistent starter under manager Manuel Pellegrini, which has put his future at the London Stadium in doubt.
The Chilean coach has opted to play Marko Arnautovic ahead of Hernandez for large parts of the season.
But with Arnautovic set to clinch a move to China later this week, they can’t afford to let another forward go.
Arnautovic’s departure would leave Hernandez, Lucas Perez and the injury-prone Andy Carroll as the club’s only recognised strikers.
Sky Italy report Hernandez is keen on a move that would offer more first-team football.
Valencia are in need of a striker after terminating Michy Batshuyai’s loan from Chelsea last week.
The Belgium international scored just three goals in 23 appearances for the La Liga outfit
And Valencia chiefs have earmarked Hernandez, who joined West Ham for £16m in 2017, as a potential replacement.
The 30-year-old has been out of action with a muscle injury for almost a month, but could return for their trip to Bournemouth on Saturday.
