Welding is one domain which is not only highly male dominated but even the very thought of seeing a woman welding giant pieces of iron doesn’t fit in by any stretch of the imagination. But Padi Mamita, a 15-year-old tribal girl from Kotturu village has chosen to weld as a career by enrolling herself in Industrial Training Institute (ITI).
Mamita passed her class 10th with D grade and she could have chosen any other course, but she chose to weld in the ITI Rayagada and now her hard work got her selected in the National Welding League for Women Students 2019 recently organised by AICTE, IIW India and a private technical institute of Bhubaneswar.
