The Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) government’s security advisory for tourists and pilgrims of Amarnath Yatra to curtail their pilgrimage in the wake of security threats has caused a sudden upsurge in tourists travelling out of the Kashmir valley but even in a situation of crisis like this, airfares shot up to abnormally high levels over the weekend before the Ministry of Civil Aviation had to up its ante, asking airlines to rein in their surging airfares.
