Harry Kane injury: How do Tottenham usually perform without their star striker?

Tottenham forward Harry Kane has been ruled out of action until March after sustaining ankle ligament damage in Spurs’ loss to Manchester United on Sunday.

The striker, who is currently level with Pierre-Emerick-Aubameyang at the top of the league’s scoring charts, will miss crucial clashes against Chelsea (twice), Borussia Dortmund and potentially Arsenal at home.

But how do Tottenham usually cope without Kane? talkSPORT.com has crunched the numbers as Spurs head into life without their star forward.

Kane’s record since his breakthrough under Mauricio Pochettino in the 2014/15 season is phenomenal.

He has scored 155 goals in 217 in all competitions and risen to be one of the Premier League’s deadliest strikers.

Having picked up the league’s Golden Boot twice, as well as the World Cup Golden Boot in the summer, he will obviously be a huge loss to the side.

But Spurs’ stats without him may give some Tottenham fans reason to be optimistic.

Their win percentage is only down by 3% without him, and similarly they only lose on average 0.1 points less without their marksman.

However, his injury really is a double-blow for Pochettino with Heung-Min Son now off to the Asian Cup.

Kane and Son have formed a deadly partnership this season – having notched up 24 goals together as Spurs’ stand-out performers.

If Korea make it to the final, Son is guaranteed to miss Tottenham’s upcoming fixtures against Fulham, Watford and Newcastle, as well as the second leg of the Carabao Cup against Chelsea.

Pochettino could now look to utilise pacey Brazilian Lucas Moura as his sole striker.

Moura has scored six goals in 19 appearances this season but has been out of the team in recent matches due to the stellar performances of Son.

Another option he could turn to is Fernando Llorente. The Spaniard has never cemented a long-run in the team due to the presence of Kane and has played just 36 minutes of Premier League action this season.

However, his recent hat-trick against Tranmere shows he may not be the worst outlet to turn to.
