Charlton remain confident they will keep hold of striker Karlan Grant amid interest from Scottish Premiership side Rangers.
Grant, who has scored 13 goals in 27 appearances for the promotion chasing Addicks this season, has six months remaining on his current deal.
Steven Gerrard has targeted the 21-year-old as a long-term replacement for Alfredo Morelos at Ibrox, and wants to sign him on a pre-contract deal this month.
However, talkSPORT understands that Charlton are optimistic Grant will not move to Rangers.
The League One side remain locked in negotiations with Grant and his representatives over a new contract, and are optimistic he will commit his future to the club.
Rangers sent a scout to watch the talented youngster in action in Saturday’s 3-0 defeat of Shrewsbury.
Grant was in impressive form as he notched a penalty in a convincing win on the road, which left Charlton just three points off the top two.
The youngster has established himself as an integral part of Lee Bowyer’s side after spending time on loan at Cambridge and Crawley in previous seasons.
Rangers would have to pay Charlton a development fee if they were to clinch a deal in the summer for the former England Under-19 international, who has been at the Valley since he was a schoolboy.
Under current rules, clubs must pay compensation for players under the age of 24 who are out of contract.
Brentford have already been knocked backed in an attempt to sign Grant, with a £500,000 bid turned down earlier this month.
