Alexis Sanchez is ‘prepared to be a loner’ at Manchester United – but only if he starts playing regularly again.
Sanchez only moved to United last January, but has been edging closer to the exit ever since he lost his regular first-team place.
His arrival truly has done more harm than good, with his performances failing to match his stratospheric wages – the highest in the Premier League.
That is thought to be creating an issue in contract negotiations with Sanchez’s teammates, with the player himself hoping Paris Saint-Germain come along to rescue him.
But the London Evening Standard say the Ligue Un giants are ‘likely to prefer a summer move’ if they do follow up any interest, with the future of Neymar uncertain.
It was reported recently that Sanchez speaks regularly to just three fellow players at United in David de Gea, Juan Mata and Romelu Lukaku, and that that may have become a problem.
But the Evening Standard say that ‘suggestions a lack of close friends in the dressing room could also drive him out have been dismissed’, as the Chilean is ‘happy to cut a lone figure, with on-field success his primary motivation’.
He is, however, ‘frustrated’ with his lack of playing time, and will look to force an exit if Jose Mourinho continues to ‘overlook’ him.
Sanchez is unhappy as ‘a key factor’ in why he chose to join United over Manchester City in January ‘was the belief he would be one of Mourinho’s star players, rather than part of a rotation at City, along with Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane, Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus.’
F***ed that up, didn’t he?
