Speaking in an interview with L’Équipe, French youth international midfielder Olivier Ntcham looked back on France’s U21 EURO performance and discussed his future with Celtic – highlights.
If I told you that despite qualifying for the Olympic we were bored in front of Les Bleuets at the recent EURO U21s tournament – what would you say?
The quality of play was not very good but the teams were very much adapted to our style of play. For example, against Croatia, it was 10 guys (behind the ball). We still had a pretty remarkable road. The only big disappointment was the match against Spain.
Is now the right time to leave Celtic?
Celtic has given me a lot. But leaving is the best solution for me to progress.
What are you missing to be a starter for a top Champions’ League club?
I have played with players who have less quality than me and who are today in top clubs, each player’s journey is different. I am 200% sure of myself. I am not saying that I am a complete player but I know that I will become one.
What would be the next best step for you?
A big league: Germany, France, Spain. To come back to France would be a very, very good thing.
How do you process the interest of Marseille in you?

It shows that hard-work pays off, it is flattering. They are a very big club with some truly incredible fans. If I joined Marseille, I would enjoy myself. I’ve always gone to clubs with amazing fans.
