FC Lorient to appoint Christophe Pelissier

France Football report that Ligue 2 side FC Lorient have decided to appoint Christophe Pelissier as their new manager in a serious statement of intent to get out of the French second division next season.

In a shock move, Pelissier has decided to accept a 3-year contract with Les Merlus rather than a 1-year guaranteed extension with the Picardy club, Amiens, which he kept up in Ligue 1 this campaign.

Lorient President Loïc Féry was absolutely adamant in getting his man and travelled from London last week to convince Pelissier, who finally said yes to the offer today. His aim is to take the team back up straight away.

He will be joined by Olivier Lagarde (goalkeeping coach) and Jean-Marie Stéphanopoli (assistant).

Pelissier decided to reject Amiens President Bernard Joannin’s proposal because of tension with Sporting Director John Williams.
