Carlo Ancelotti: “Paris deserved to win”

Following his side’s 1-0 defeat to PSG this evening, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti spoke to Canal+.

“Paris deserved to win because they played better than us,” said the Italian coach. “We had difficulties escaping the pressure, which we usually do very well. We lacked a defensive coordination. No, it’s not a good night for us.”

Looking forward to the second leg, Ancelotti said, “But this is only the first leg of this round of sixteen. We’ll stay confident for the home leg. The stadium will get behind us. Qualification is not out of reach.”

In relation to Karim Benzema, who started this evening despite carrying an injury, he said “his problem is not physical but rather that he wasn’t provided enough balls.”

In another interview with RMC Sport, the Real boss said of Kylian Mbappé, who won in the game in the 94th minute, “he’s the best player there is right now in football.”
