In speaking with Europe 1 this weekend, Stade Reims president, Jean-Pierre Caillot, discussed the future of sought-after 19-year-old striker Hugo Ekitike. Caillot explained:
“In Hugo’s case, he would waste time staying with us. We refused an offer of €35m this winter, which is a lot of money for a club like ours. That money will be used to grow and improve the club. Hugo will be allowed to go, and he’s probably going to leave. There wasn’t a big club that didn’t inquire for him.”

Despite nine goals this term, Ekitike’s season has been badly affected by injuries and suspensions and he has only gathered 23 Ligue 1 games so far in his career.
