Stade Brestois have confirmed that Youcef Belaïli (30) has signed a one-year contract extension at the club. The Algerian international impressed after signing for the club on a short-term deal in January.
Following his arrival in the winter transfer window on a free transfer from Qatar SC, he made 13 Ligue 1 appearances, scored three goals and registered two assists. His signature also provided a huge marketing impetus for the club. In the 24 hours preceding his arrival, Brest’s social media following doubled.
It was uncertain whether he would remain with the side for a further season after rumours of interest from three Greek sides emerged. However, he has decided to stay in Ligue 1 for the upcoming 2022/23 season and has already joined his teammates at the club’s training camp in Dinard.
The Algerian international winger becomes the club’s fourth summer signing after the signatures of Karamoko Dembélé, Mathias Pereira Lage and Noah Fadiga.
