Belgian football correspondent Sacha Tavolieri reports this afternoon that midfielder Amadou Onana’s move from Lille to Everton is now a done deal, with agreements having been reached between all of the parties involved.
The Premier League side have struck a deal with Les Dogues over an initial €36m fee, with a potential €4m in add-ons, while the players himself has also agreed terms with his new club.
The midfielder is set to fly out to England tonight, in order to undergo his medical tomorrow and put pen to paper on a five-year contract.
The former Hamburg man was also the subject of interest from West Ham, who looked set to wrap up his signing before their offer was matched by Everton, with the latter team also winning over Onana himself.
The 20-year-old leaves the north of France after just one season, having initiallly joined from the German club on a 5-year deal for €8m, but had been told that Lille would not stand in his way if an offer matched their asking price. This season, he made 32 appearances in a disappointing title defence, while also playing in every one of their Champions League games, in a run that was eventually ended by Chelsea in the knockouts.
