Official | Benoît Badiashile joins Chelsea from Monaco

Benoît Badiashile’s (21) transfer to Chelsea has been confirmed by AS Monaco. The French defender played 135 for the Principality club. 

As announced by Chelsea, Badiashile has signed a seven-and-a-half-year contract at Stamford Bridge. The defender, who this season made his debut for the France national team had already established an agreement in principle to join the Premier League side, as revealed by Get French Football News, and he then completed his medical earlier this week.

Get French Football News believes the fee to be around €40m. Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported a fee of €38m earlier on Thursday. 

Badiashile has featured nearly 150 times for Monaco having come through the club’s academy system. This season, he has been an ever-present in Philippe Clement’s backline, making 18 appearances, and scoring two goals, both of which came in Ligue 1. He also now has two appearances for Les Bleus to his name, both of which came in September.

Speaking in a press release, Badiashile said, “I’m very happy to be here at Chelsea. I’m so excited to start playing for this club. I can’t wait to see the fans and start playing in the best league in the world.”
