News On When WWE Decided to Make Paige Smackdown GM
As seen on WWE Smackdown this week, Paige was named the new General Manager of The Blue Brand just 24 hours after announcing her in-ring retirement on Raw.
After the announcement was made, we noted via Dave Meltzer that it was ultimately Vince McMahon who decided to name Paige as the new Smackdown GM.
Furthermore, Bryan Alvarez noted on a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Live that the decision to make Paige the GM was made on Tuesday, the day of the tapings. Alvarez added that the same WWE mindset could apply to the Superstar Shakeup next week, noting “they will be switching people on Monday and then they’ll decide who they wanna switch on Tuesday.”
As noted, the Superstar Shakeup will commence on Monday, and because Smackdown does not have a live event that night, the stars of the Blue brand will be on-hand at Raw for the Shakeup, as names from Smackdown will appear on the show if and when they are moved.
