Cody Rhodes is one step closer to finally getting his hands on Maxwell Jacob Friedman, but removing the second-to-last obstacle in his path came at a hefty, physical price.
The “American Nightmare” pledged to do whatever it takes to get his singles match against MJF at this month’s AEW Revolution pay-per-view in Chicago, agreeing to fulfill a short list of demands. The first of those demands was that, under no circumstances is Cody allowed to touch Friedman ahead of their match. The second? Ten lashes from a leather belt across the back, on live television.
Rhodes took every single one of those lashes this Wednesday night on AEW Dynamite, as his friends and family watched in horror from ringside. The promotion later released an image showing the brutal aftermath, which you can check out below.
Unfortunately for him, Cody isn’t done yet. The final in MJF’s list of demands is that he must face the hulking Wardlow in the first ever steel cage match in All Elite Wrestling history. That match will take place in two weeks time.
