NOTE: At these specially-arranged races which took place at the conclusion of the ECAC & IC4A Indoor Championships (results below), Yomif Kejelcha smashed Hicham El Guerrouj’s 22 year-old indoor world record for the mile, clocking 3:47.01. Behind him, Johnny Gregorek became only the second American to break 3:50 indoors, just missing Bernard Lagat’s national indoor record by 9/100ths of a second. Eight of the nine finishers on the men’s side set PB’s.

Also, Kejelcha’s 1500m split was 3:31.25, just missing Samuel Tefera’s recent world indoor record of 3:31.04. BTW, Kejelcha, Gregorek, Sam Prakel, Henry Wynne and Craig Engels all banked 2019 IAAF World Championships qualifying marks (3:53.10 or better for the mile or 3:36.00 or better for the 1500m) –Ed.
NOTE II: The BU facility is small in terms of seating, but the track was built to a high technical standard. Also, USADA was called in to test Kejelcha so his record can be ratified by IAAF –Ed.
