Stone pelting mobs that come out as a cover for militants during encounters have been for long an issue the Indian security forces have been facing in Kashmir. Not only the mobs help the militants get away, sometimes they could even cost the lives of security personnel during an encounter. They also add risk of civilian casualties in crossfire, for which eventually the forces will be blamed.

It in on this backdrop, two young girls have approached the Supreme Court seeking protection of human rights of security force personnel, who come under attack by mobs while performing their duties.
