In case you haven’t been outside lately, it’s hot. Like, really, really hot. Like so hot that 2018 is definitely on the way toward becoming the fourth-hottest year on record. But even then, we weren’t quite that summer had officially arrived.
You see, despite the many dollar bills we’ve dished out for freshly poured glasses of millennial-approved rosé, and despite the fact that Ariana Grande already released the pop playlist of the summer (looking at you, Sweetener), we hadn’t crossed everything off our it’s-definitely-summer checklist. The missing bullet point? Kim Kardashian in a gloriously high-waist, ‘90s-style thong bikini.

That is, until Sunday, when — you guessed it — Kim Kardashian hit up the shores of Miami in a gloriously high-waist, ‘90s-style thong bikini. Of course, the entrepreneur and mother of three did already spend time sun grazing this season. Just last week, she relaxed on a boat in a bright pink, neon Chanel onesie that left us a little baffled about whether or not it was a onesie she wore in the first place. But we’d yet to see Mrs. West in something as … attention-grabbing … as that infamous vintage Dior bikini she wore in Mexico last year.

That all changed over the weekend, when Kardashian was photographed posing for photos alongside longtime pal Larsa Pippen. Yes, Kim looked like a fabulous avatar straight out of a never-to-be-released sci-fi flick called something like, Guardians of Calabasas. Her hair? It channeled Ariana Grande. Her skin? Its tan complexion glowed beautifully below the sun. That $195 Minimale Animale two-piece? It can be yours if you’re looking to recreate the look.
The most important question we had, though, was this one: is it really summer without Kim Kardashian in a thong bikini? Nope, no, never. Now, the season has officially arrived.
