East Coweta remains atop NFCA Fall High School Top 25 Coaches Poll

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — East Coweta tuned up for its rivalry game at Newnan next week with a 12-1 home rout of Campbell on Tuesday to remain firmly atop the NFCA Fall High School Top 25 Coaches Poll for a second straight week.

The two-time defending Class 7A state champion Indians are now 13-0 this season and 81-2 over the last two-plus seasons.

Meanwhile, Oklahoma’s Sequoyah (20-0) and Nebraska’s Papillion-LaVista (11-0) kept pace at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, with multiple wins. Sequoyah has now won 20 straight and 37 of its last 38 games.

Fifth-ranked Blue Springs South got its Missouri Class 4 state champion title defense going with a 11-8 win over Staley on the strength of Louisiana commit Addie Lightner’s grand slam and five RBI.

Four teams debut in this week’s rankings, led by Oklahoma’s Binger-Oney at No. 13. The (17-1) Bobcats have won 16 straight after dropping one of two games on the second day of their season. Other newcomers are Oklahoma’s Kiowa (18-2) at No. 20, and the Colorado duo of Rock Canyon (6-1) at No. 21, and Legacy (5-1) at No. 25.

State rankings submitted by NFCA member coaches are used to compile the NFCA Fall High School Top 25 Coaches Poll. Teams are chosen based on performance, roster quality and strength of schedule. Five states — Colorado, Georgia, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Missouri — play a fall fastpitch schedule, while Iowa recently completed its summer season.
