West Ham have rejected a £8.9m bid from Fiorentina for Pedro Obiang, according to reports.
The Spanish-born midfielder’s playing time has been restricted due to the form of Mark Noble and Declan Rice this season.
Obiang has made 105 appearance since joining West Ham for £4.3m from Sampdoria in 2015.
Sky Sports claim the Hammers would only consider selling the 26-year-old if they can find a replacement.
Obiang is a back-up option for Manuel Pellegrini to cover first-choice midfield pairing Noble and Rice.
Carlos Sanchez is ruled out for the season with a knee injury, while an ankle problem has limited former Arsenal man Jack Wilshere to just five minutes of football since September.
Thus, selling Obiang without a replacement lined up would leave the club short in midfield.
West Ham are just one point off a Europa League place after enjoying a successful Christmas period.
They face a trip to Bournemouth this Saturday, before a trip to AFC Wimbledon in the FA Cup fourth round next weekend.
