Trent Alexander-Arnold: Liverpool defender facing month in another injury blow for Reds

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to be out for a month with a knee injury, according to reports.

The England defender suffered the blow during Saturday’s defeat of Brighton, playing the full match despite feeling a problem in the warm-up.

The issue was recognised as being more serious towards the end of the day.

And, though Alexander-Arnold is not facing surgery, The Times report that a tweaked ligament could keep the 20-year-old out for four weeks.

The youngster’s injury comes not long after Jurgen Klopp sanctioned the departure of Alexander-Arnold’s back-up, Nathaniel Clyne, on loan to Bournemouth for the remainder of the season.

James Milner and Fabinho are able to fill in at right-back throughout Alexander-Arnold’s absence, while teenager Rafael Camacho played in the position during the FA Cup defeat at Wolves.

Fabinho was forced to play in the centre of defence in Liverpool’s victory over Brighton due to Dejan Lovren’s injury, with Joe Gomez also currently out of action as well.

They are joined on Liverpool’s growing injury list by Adam Lallana and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, while Georginio Wijnaldum is also a doubt for this weekend’s match against Crystal Palace with a knee injury of his own.
