Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Hoffenheim midfielder Florian Grillitsch.
Sky Sports are reporting that Spurs scouts have been watching the 23-year-old play for both club and country this season and are admirers.
The Austrian is understood to have a release clause of £18million in his contract, which still has more than two-and-a-half years left to run.
It is looking increasingly likely that Tottenham will have to replace Mousa Dembele after a bid from Chinese Super League club Beijing Sinobo Guoan came in.
He is set to leave the club after Spurs have agreed to an £11million deal.
Grillitsch has been a standout performer for Hoffenheim this season in the Bundesliga, who are currently seventh.
Also on their list of potential replacements for Dembele is Borussia Monchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria.
Spurs did not make a single signing during the summer transfer window but could be tempted to recruit this month to boost their title credentials.
They remain six points off top-of-the-table Liverpool and new signings may help propel them to the title.
