Former Watford and Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic is now the favourite to replace Aitor Karanka at Nottingham Forest.
The Tricky Trees and Karanka parted ways on Friday morning after the Spaniard asked to be released from his contract.
The scramble to appoint a new boss is likely to be swift with the club in the hunt for promotion – four points off a play-off spot.
Jokanovic is now considered a specialist at achieving such a feat having led both Watford and Fulham to the Premier League.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “With Forest four points off the play-offs, attendances soaring this season and a fan based re-engaged with the club following the exit of Fawaz Al-Hasawi this development looks very odd on the face of it.
“With news breaking this morning of Karanka’s sacking, bookies have been quick to install ex-Fulham boss Jokanovic as the clear early front runner.
“Although this market is still in its infancy, 38% of all the early money has come for the Serbian taking over from the Spaniard.”
