Karlan Grant: Charlton boss Lee Bowyer confirms Rangers are interested in striker

Charlton manager Lee Bowyer has confirmed Rangers’ interest in Karlan Grant.

Grant, 21, has scored 13 goals in 27 appearances this season for the League One outfit.

And that form hasn’t gone unnoticed, with an Ibrox scout in attendance to see the young attacker score in the Addicks’ 3-0 win at Shrewsbury last weekend.

The Gers view Grant as the ideal long-term replacement for in-demand striker Alfredo Morelos, who is attracting interest from overseas.

However, talkSPORT understand the Addicks remain confident Grant will sign fresh terms at the Valley.

Bowyer said: “We haven’t had any approach from Rangers, but we are aware of their interest.

“It’s a compliment to the football club and to Karlan.

“It just shows that we are doing well and when you are doing well as a side then inevitably the players are doing well as individuals.

“Clubs are going to be looking to take our plyers and a big club like Rangers is obviously a compliment to us.

“We are negotiating a contract with Karlan, we are trying to get him to stay and we’ll have to see where that goes.”

Bowyer’s men, who are three points off the top two in the third tier, entertain Accrington Stanley at the Valley on Saturday.
