Manchester United executives have reportedly met with Saudi counterparts over a potential takeover of the club.
According to a report from Goal.com, the ruling Salman family are looking to purchase the Red Devils in a whopping £4billion deal.
Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are among the clubs who have benefitted from sizeable investment from the Middle East, and these talks indicate United could potentially be the next.
The Glazer family are currently at the helm at Old Trafford but face immense pressure from unhappy supporters, and co-owner Avram Glazer’s recent trip to Saudi Arabia has intensified speculation that a sale could be on the cards.
Glazer was pictured on Twitter meeting the Saudi minister of parliamentary affairs, Dr Mohammed Abo Sak, on Wednesday but the Manchester Evening News believes this is completely unrelated to any takeover talk.
The Goal report claims that the Glazers have ‘offered no indication that they are looking to part with their controlling stake at United’, but they could possibly part with some of their shares.
They go on to state that ‘no such talks are being held at present’ due to intervention from the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF).
