Although Everton are tenth in the Premier League, things are looking very encouraging during Marco Silva’s first season at the club.
The calibre of player that came to Goodison Park last summer including Richarlison, Yerry Mina and Lucas Digne suggests this is a team on the up.
And with the January transfer window now open, the Toffees have been linked with a number of new recruits.
They are reportedly interested in Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser as he has yet to agree fresh terms with the Cherries following his impressive 2018/19 season.
And according to Italian media, Everton have even been linked with ex-Manchester City hitman Edin Dzeko, who has yet to agree a new deal with current club Roma.
They are also eyeing Southampton full-back Cedric Soares, with the Toffees reportedly considering a £15million bid for him.
Big changes are happening at Everton and it seems like some players could be on their way out too, with Cenk Tosun, Oumar Niasse and Morgan Schneiderlin all linked with Goodison Park departures, while James McCarthy could be heading out on loan.
Idrissa Gueye has also been linked to Paris Saint-Germain, L’Equipe reports.
So if all of these potential transfers were to come to fruition, how might Everton line up from the end of January?
Goalkeeper
England’s No.1 is viewed as a long-term player at Goodison Park so there is no need to find a replacement for Jordan Pickford.
Defence
Seamus Coleman has been a mainstay at right-back for many seasons but there’s nothing wrong with a bit of healthy competition.
Soares would be ideal in preventing Coleman from getting complacent and in the event of an injury it wouldn’t leave a void.
Meanwhile, Yerry Mina, Michael Keane and Lucas Digne have been performing well this season can occupy the other defensive spots.
Midfield
Although rumours of Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes moving to Everton have gone quiet lately, he would slot in nicely into the midfield if he were to join the club.
Andre Gomes has been a revelation this season and dictates the pace of the game in the holding role and well, you can’t leave someone with Gylfi Sugurdsson’s quality out of the team.
Attack
Up top is where we see the potentially most drastic changes.
Silva likes to play a 4-3-3 formation and with Richarlison having a stellar first season, he’s a shoe-in for a starting place.
Dzeko would be a good focal point for the Toffees which would help bring the more skillful Richarlison and Fraser into their attacks.
