Everton join race for Manchester United and Real Madrid target Eder Militao

Everton have joined Manchester United and Real Madrid in the race for Porto defender Eder Militao, according to reports.

The right-back has been a revelation in defence for the Portuguese side this term since joining from Sao Paulo in the summer for just £4million.

Militao’s size and speed has seen him rise to be one of the most highly-rated defenders in Europe.

He is currently in the WhoScored Primeira Liga team of the season, averaging a 7.5/10 rating for a Porto side that tops the division.

What’s more attractive about the Brazilian is his versatility, as he can play as a wing-back, an orthodox right-back, a central defender and a defensive midfielder.

He now has a £42.5million release clause and according to Brazilian outlet UOL, the Toffees have now joined Manchester United in the race for his signature.

Marco Silva has doubts over the ability of Seamus Coleman and Jonjoe Kenny and could make an offer this month.

European champions Real Madrid are also keen for his services but Militao desires a move to the Premier League.

The player also wants assurances of his playing time and knows it would be hard to cement a starting place in Los Blancos boss Santi Solari’s set-up.

The Goodison Park hierarchy face a hard task in persuading him to join them over Ole Gunner Solskjaer’s resurgent United.
