Gonzalo Higuain appears close to completing a January move to Chelsea with Gennaro Gattuso confirming the striker wants to leave Milan
The Blues have been heavily linked with the Argentine as they search for a prolific goalscorer.
This latest development could see Higuain, 31, reunite with Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri after the pair worked together at Napoli in the 2015/16 season.
Gattuso, the Milan head coach, said: “When a player makes up his mind it becomes hard to convince them otherwise.
“I have a relationship with him that features great honesty, we say things to one another’s face.
“At the moment, he’s our player and we’re holding on tightly to him. I don’t know what will happen.”
Juventus star Higuain has spent the first half of the season on loan at Milan, with a view to making the move permanent.
However, if Chelsea recruit him then it is understood Juve will demand somewhere in the region of £32million for the player.
Higuain played in AC Milan’s 2-0 victory over Sampdoria on Saturday but made little impact on the game which looks to be be his final appearance for the club.
