Chelsea target Gonzalo Higuain takes out manager Gennaro Gattuso in training after telling him he wants to leave Milan

Gonzalo Higuain took out Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso with a training ground challenge just days after the Argentina forward revealed his desire to leave San Siro this month.

Higuain is currently on loan at the Rossoneri from their Serie A rivals Juventus, but he has told Gattuso he wants to cut short his temporary stay amid interest from Chelsea.

The Blues hope to sign Higuain this month to solve their striker problems, with Maurizio Sarri, the Chelsea manager, working well with Higuain while the pair were at Napoli together.

“When a player makes up his mind it becomes hard to convince them otherwise,” Gattuso said of Higuian.

“I have a relationship with him that features great honesty, we say things to one another’s face.

“At the moment, he’s our player and we’re holding on tightly to him. I don’t know what will happen.”

Higuain has been included in Milan’s squad that has travelled to Saudi Arabia for the Supercoppa Italiana fixture against Juventus, the forward’s parent club, and he clashed with Gattuso in a training session ahead of Wednesday’s match.

There was nothing malicious in the clash, however, with Higuain hilariously taking Gattuso out with a challenge from behind.

Gattuso showed no ill effects from the challenge, with a later clip (9 seconds in) showing him make his own tackle on a group of players which ended with Alessio Romagnoli, the defender, crumpled on the ground.

Milan take on Juventus on Wednesday before returning to Serie A action on Monday with a trip to Genoa scheduled in.
