Charlotte Kerr latest: Charlton Athletic Women star’s condition has ‘improved’ after being rushed to hospital following collision against Manchester United

Charlotte Kerr is in hospital and her condition has ‘improved’ after her horror injury on Sunday afternoon.

The Charlton Athletic Women star was rushed to hospital after colliding with goalkeeper Katie Startup as they tried to stop a Manchester United goal.

After a lengthy delay, the officials at the Oakwood in Crayford decided it was in everyone’s best interests to abandon the game.

Kerr was treated by physiotherapists from both sides and was given oxygen by the United medical team, before an ambulance took her to hospital for serious medial treatment.

However the club have now released a statement confirming her condition has improved after reports suggested she was struggling to breathe.

It read: “Today’s Charlton Athletic Women’s fixture against Manchester United Women was abandoned after a collision left Charlotte Kerr requiring serious medical attention.

“Charlotte Kerr was transferred to a local hospital by ambulance and her condition has improved. The club will not know the full extent of the injury until a full scan has been completed.

“The club would like to send it’s sincere thanks to Manchester United and their staff for their assistance in treating the injury.

“The club will provide a further update on Charlotte Kerr’s condition in due course.”

A witness at the game reported Charlton had no oxygen of their own at the game and United’s supply eventually ran out, just before the ambulance arrived.
