Actress and singer Vanessa Hudgens went old school in the best way possible on Tuesday night at the Bad Boys For Life premiere. To match her white feathered gown, Hudgens wore her hair parted to the side with long waves down her back, and we're calling it now: Old-Hollywood glamour is back.

But this is no carbon copy of vintage looks we've come to know and love. Hudgens's hair and makeup team made sure to put their own personal and modern twist to it. "I wanted to give Vanessa a soft luxurious blowout," hairstylist Chad Wood tells Allure. Wood first prepped her hair with his favorite Kérastase Mousse Bouffante. Then he used the Harry Josh dryer to create volume and shape.
To get those soft long waves, he first curled hair with the Hot Tools 2-inch Curling Iron and brushed them out with a Mason Pearson Brush. As a finishing touch, he worked in the Virtue Labs Healing Oil and sprayed the Rene Furterer Vegetal Strong Hold Finishing Hair Spray to set everything in.
Her makeup pretty much followed the same theme, calling back to the golden era of classic cinema. "Vanessa wore a really beautiful sparkly, feathery old Hollywood-looking gown, so the first instinct was to go old Hollywood," makeup artist Allan Avendaño tells Allure. "However, we wanted to keep it modern and not costumey."
Avendaño, who says he's been trying to use more clean beauty products, started with the Kosas Tinted Facial Oil Foundation in shades six and eight. He applied the lighter shade all over and placed the darker hue on the edges of her face to give it dimension. For her eyes, he chose to sweep the Kosas 10-Second Eyeshadow in Globe to give her eyelids some sparkle and lined the upper lash line with a liquid liner to "create a seductive stare."
He then used the Kosas Color & Light Pressed in Contrachroma and the Kosas Color & Light Creme in Velvet Melon.

But it's the highlight and dewy finish that he says keeps this classic look from appearing too dated. "Back in the day, no one wanted shine and everyone was matted down," he says. "These days, having dewy skin is so fresh and effervescent."
For her lips, he went for a warm pink lipstick to complement her white gown. The Kosas Lipstick in Rosewater, he says, is the perfect pink, as it doesn't overpower the overall vibe. Chic and understated — we're here for it.
