PSG looking to sign Leipzig’s Nordi Mukiele on a loan deal

Foot Mercato report this morning that Paris Saint-Germain are looking to bring in French right-back Nordi Mukiele on a deal from Leipzig which would be structured as a season-long loan with a permanent clause at the end of the campaign.

As broken by L’Équipe yesterday, the Ligue 1 champions are now in advanced talks with the Bundesliga side and have reached an agreement in principle over personal terms with the former Montpellier man himself.

The eventual transfer fee, as reported by L’Équipe, would be €15m, with the French international just one year away from his deal in Germany expiring. As a result, Mukiele would extend for another year before packing his bags for Paris.

PSG sporting advisor Luís Campos has been a fan of Mukiele for a while, and the versatile 24-year-old is seen as the ideal recruit to add depth to the right flank as well as the central defense. The Paris native’s home-grown status would also help the team in formulating its squad list for European competition, while manager Christophe Galtier also approves of the move.

Atlético Madrid and Manchester United were also interested in the defender, but Mukiele was keen on PSG’s project, having now received guarantees on the new structure at the club. He moves back to France four months before Didier Deschamps’ squad list for the World Cup is unveiled.
