Lyon coach, Peter Bosz: “I wanted to change 8 players at half time.”

As quoted by L’Équipe, speaking after his Lyon side’s shock 3-1 loss to Lorient last night in Ligue 1, coach Peter Bosz was furious with his team’s performance. Bosz explained:

“We defended very badly, played very badly with the ball. It was nothing like the OL we have seen this season so far. We lost the game in the first half, but in the second, we tried. From time to time, we were dangerous but unfortunately we didn’t score… With the ball, we were very bad, but, without it, we were even worse. I can’t name one single player as responsible, it was almost all of them. At half-time, I would’ve liked to change eight players, but the referee wouldn’t have agreed… I’m not worried, I know my players, I know we’re capable of doing much better, But I’m very disappointed with what I saw – especially in the first half.”

Lyon were previously undefeated in their first five league games this season, winning four and drawing one, and the loss at Lorient saw Bosz’s team miss the chance to go joint top with PSG and Marseille. Lorient, meanwhile, despite starting the season as a relegation candidate, went level on points with OL in fifth place.
