This Sunday night, SummerSlam will be emanating from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn once again. The pay-per-view is set to be headlined by a huge Fatal 4-Way match involving Braun Strowman, Roman Reigns, Samoa Joe, and Brock Lesnar. Brock is going to be putting his Universal Championship on the line in the match. As we all know by now, Lesnar is rumored to be leaving WWE in the not too distant future to return to UFC. So when WWE added a stipulation suggesting that Lesnar will be leaving the company should he lose the match, it added a ton of intrigue and unpredictability to the match, …and the Barclays Center just spoiled it.
Some fans have been speculating that Lesnar will indeed lose the match and his Universal Championship before reentering the USADA testing pool and going on to face Jon Jones at a future UFC event. Well, it doesn’t appear as though he will be leaving WWE anytime soon though, because the Barclays Center put out a tweet today confirming Lesnar for the Raw show after SummerSlam. This could potentially mean that Lesnar will be retaining his title and will be sticking around in WWE for a while. This outcome had been rumored, but this statement may unintentionally confirm it. Lesnar revealed to the Associated Press back in 2015 that his WWE contract lasts for three years, meaning that it will expire in April 2018.

Bayley had been scheduled to wrestle Alexa Bliss for the Raw Women’s Championship at SummerSlam this year, but those plans changed during a nasty match against Nia Jax on Raw a few weeks back. During the match, Bayley accidentally suffered a shoulder injury that is set to keep her out for months. She is in the Brooklyn area right now for various media events, and she gave this update to PWInsider’s Mike Johnson:
“I just started physical therapy. So, for right now, I’ve never had an injury before that’s kept me out before, so I’m kind of taking it day to day,” she said. “I’m not really sure how long [I will be out]. It’s a couple of months or if it’s a few months of what’s it going to be right now. But, it’s separated, it’s a grade-two separation. It’s like the AC joint and the ligaments and all that stuff, so it’s not easy.”
She also added that some of the motion in her arm has come back, but the injury is still severe enough to keep her out of action.
“Just within the past couple of weeks, I think it’s been two weeks now, I’ve actually been able to move it a little bit and the swelling has gone down a lot. So, the motion is coming back a little bit more, but it’s more about getting the strength and being able to lift my arm in front of me. Like I can’t do my own hair and it’s really hard to do certain things, but I’m just trying to get back as soon as possible, but at a safe pace as well.”
Alexa Bliss is now going to be defending her title against Sasha Banks at SummerSlam as a result of the injury to Bayley.
